‼️ ONLINE ACTIVITY REGISTRATION FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR IS OPEN! If your child is planning to participate in any middle school or high school activity such as athletics, speech, drama, band, choir, etc. they must be registered through Varsity Bound. To begin registration, click here: https://manager.gobound.com/ia/centraldewitt/students CREATE FAMILY ACCOUNT 1. Create family account by filling out the form and checking the box at the bottom after certifying the information. 2. If you have used Varsity Bound in the past, your child’s profile should appear on the next screen. If you have not used Varsity Bound, or your child’s profile is not visible, please add your child. 3. Update or add guardian information as needed. PLEASE NOTE: Varsity Bound is the primary form of communication used by coaches and sponsors for activities. It is important that parent/guardian information is available and current. REGISTER FOR ACTIVITIES 1. Next, on your child’s profile click “Register for Activities.” 2. A screen with all available activities will appear. Click on the registration button next to the activity for which you wish to register. Keep in mind this is registration for the entire 2023-2024 school year. If your child has any interest in possibly participating in an activity, please register. This does not mean they are committed to participate if they change their mind later. 3. When choosing an activity, please make sure you choose the appropriate level. For example, if an activity is only listed as “High School” it is not available at the middle school level. 4. There are 11 quick and easy steps to register for each activity. Most of the information will be automatically populated and just needs verification, unless you are new to Varsity Bound. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS 1. On Step 9, you will need to upload the Sport Physical form. You can take a photo of the completed physical form and upload it. Physicals that have not expired from last year have rolled over to this year, but you will still need a new physical before your current one is expired. Click here to access the physical form: https://www.cd-csd.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/physical-form-updated-2022.pdf 2. Student and parent will need to read and sign the “Heads Up Concussion,” “Good Conduct Policy” and “Student-Parent Handbook.” 3. Click “Complete Registration.” You will receive an email confirmation for the activities you registered for. At the top of the page, click on “Return to Family Dashboard” to register for the next activity or another child. If you need to go back to upload a physical form at a later day, in the Family Dashboard there is a menu bar on the left side of page. Underneath the Saber logo, click on your child’s initials. Then click on “Documents.” Under “School Documents” click the green button next to “Sports Physical.” This will allow you to upload the new file. Again, you can take a photo of the form and upload it. If your child will be riding to or from an event at any time with someone other than their parent or guardian (i.e., grandparent, family friend, teammate’s parent), please fill out the “Transportation Permission & Release Form.” Your child will not be allowed to ride with anyone who is not on this list. #gosaber #centraldewittcsd #cdhs #cdms #onlineactivityregistration2023

Mrs. Franker’s 5th grade class participated in her annual “Positive Behavior Auction” the last day school. Each time a student displayed a positive behavior throughout the school year they were given a “Franker token.” Students used these tokens to “purchase” items at the auction. Hundreds of items were donated by parents and other individuals. Thank you to everyone who donated! Mrs. Franker also took her class for ice cream earlier in the week! What a fun way to end the year! #gosabers #centraldewittcsd #cdis #5thgradepositivebehaviorauction

On Monday, June 5th the Ekstrand Elementary roofing project will begin. During the first week rock will be removed with a vacuum which will be loud and could be disruptive for those who live near the school. Work will begin at 7:00 a.m. and run through late afternoon. This part of the project should take approximately four days. Also, this summer the current playground will be removed to prepare for the installation of the new more-inclusive playground. Please be aware it will not be available during that time. We will keep you updated on the progress! We apologize for the inconveniences and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our facilities! Please share this information so our community is aware! Today we honor the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The poppy is a part of Memorial Day history and a symbol of lives lost since World War I, something Ekstrand students learned recently thanks to the Poppy Project by the DeWitt American Legion Auxilary and art teacher Ms. Janaszak. As part of the project, Ms. Janaszak had a contest for students to create their own poppies. Congratulations to the contest winners!
