Our third graders wrapped up their Amplify Human Body unit with a special visit from local health professionals! Nurse Practitioner Ohnemus, Nurse Danika Walrod, Nursing Assistant Mackenzie Riedesel Kenzie, Dr. Cram, and optometry staff from Dr. Hayward’s office stopped by to share their expertise and connect classroom learning to real-world careers.
Students were challenged with questions that encouraged critical thinking and had the chance to hear how their knowledge of the human body is used every day by professionals in our community.
We’re grateful to these guests for helping spark curiosity and showing our students the many paths their learning can take! 💜💛

Recently, sophomores and juniors attended Clinton Academy Preview Day which gave them a firsthand look at the career academies available their junior and senior years. Students got an up-close experience in the Criminal Justice Academy, including learning fingerprinting techniques, and gathered important info about enrolling in an academy while taking college courses during high school.
In addition, juniors and seniors have been on the road visiting colleges including Mount Mercy University, Coe College and University of Wisconsin-Platteville. They learned about academic programs, campus life, and in Platteville even connected with a Central DeWitt alum who shared insights from his own college experience.
From hands-on learning to exploring colleges, our students are gaining experiences that will inspire and guide them as they chart their paths ahead! Way to go, Sabers!

Described by parents and colleagues alike as someone who “goes above and beyond” every single day, Ms. Allison creates a classroom environment where every child feels safe, seen, and inspired to learn. Her colleagues note how she continually challenges students to reach their potential while fostering confidence and curiosity along the way.
For many families, the preschool experience is both exciting and nerve-wracking — especially when it’s a child’s very first time away from home. One parent shared that Ms. Allison’s empathy and communication completely eased that transition. She regularly sends photos and videos of her students singing, playing, and learning, providing parents with reassurance and joy throughout the day.
“I’ve had teachers send the occasional photo before, but never this many, and never with the same level of dedication and heart,” one parent said. “Those pictures and videos are truly priceless to me.”
Ms. Allison’s dedication also shines in the way she advocates for her students’ well-being. When one child faced health challenges, she immediately took initiative to create a detailed safety plan, ensuring everyone was informed and prepared. That kind of thoughtfulness and organization has not only built trust but it’s inspired families to consider joining the district long-term.
Her compassion extends to students who struggle with anxiety as well. One parent shared how Ms. Allison offered a “soft launch” before the school year even began, inviting her daughter to visit and explore the classroom at her own pace. Through patient reassurance and daily encouragement, Ms. Allison has helped transform what was once a tearful goodbye into a confident morning routine filled with smiles.
“Because of her compassion and consistency, my daughter has made so much progress,” a parent said. “She now walks into school with a smile and a sense of comfort that once felt impossible.”
Every nomination echoed the same message: Ms. Allison’s teaching is so much more than lessons and activities — it’s about nurturing the whole child. She connects deeply with both students and families, creating an atmosphere of trust, warmth, and belonging.
We are proud to honor Ms. Allison for the extraordinary heart she brings to her work. Her devotion reflects the very best of what it means to be a SABER, and is providing our youngest learners the strong start they deserve through a truly meaningful and exceptional educational experience. 💜💛

We were honored to have veteran Michelle Willenborg share an inspiring message about service, sacrifice, and doing the next right thing — reminding students that every act of service, no matter how small, can make a difference.
This experience gave our students a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the courage and commitment of our nation’s veterans and the importance of gratitude and service in their own lives.
Thank you to our guest speaker, the members of the DeWitt American Legion and Auxiliary and all other veterans who joined us today.
