🏈 We’re making a change to Friday night’s schedule as we continue to battle Mother Nature and a very wet football field. The varsity football game will now kick off at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.

We’ve taken on a significant amount of rain over the past week, and with more expected overnight, the field conditions remain a major consideration. The earlier start will also help us get the game in before even more potential bad weather arrives Friday evening.

This change gives us the best opportunity for playable field conditions that keep player safety at the forefront. A decision regarding the sophomore game will be made tomorrow.

👑 Homecoming Coronation will take place immediately following the Varsity game.

That’s why we offer Classroom Clinic, a telehealth program that provides behavioral and mental health services right here at school. Students are able to meet with a licensed provider in a private, supportive space during the school day—without leaving the building.

💛💜 The Saber Homecoming Parade rolls through DeWitt tomorrow at 6 p.m.!

We invite our community to come 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 and show some Saber Spirit! Bring the family, grab a spot along the route and get ready to celebrate our students, our schools and all things Central DeWitt.

What does it take to create a safe, engaging outdoor space for young children? Our Childhood Health, Safety and Nutrition students got a firsthand look at the answer!

Ekstrand Elementary Principal Mr. Miller recently joined Mrs. Barnes’ class at Central DeWitt High School to share the process behind establishing the outdoor play structures at Ekstrand. 🛝

These students are currently studying the planning processes and requirements for early childhood settings, including indoor and outdoor spaces. Hearing about the planning, safety considerations and decision-making involved in a project right here at Central DeWitt gave students a chance to see how the concepts they’re learning in class come to life in a real early childhood setting. 💜💛

Our fifth graders had the incredible opportunity to meet virtually with Yangsook Choi, award-winning author of The Name Jar, all the way from Seoul, Korea!

Choi’s book explores embracing your identity, celebrating diversity, and finding a sense of belonging — a perfect message to kick off the school and as 5th graders begin their first ELA unit on personal narratives.

The visit was interactive, engaging and a whole lot of fun! Students created mini stories using zines, small, self-made booklets that let writers combine words and illustrations to tell a story. Each student created a character who faced a real-life problem, then worked through the story to find a solution. ✏️📖

What a fun way to bring storytelling to life — and what an amazing opportunity to connect with an author halfway around the world! 🌎

🏈 Our Saber football players made a stop at Ekstrand Elementary this morning to kick off game day the right way!

They greeted students as they stepped off the bus and welcomed others at the door — handing out high-fives, smiles and plenty of Saber Spirit along the way.

Moments like these are what Saber Spirit is all about — our youngest students getting to see these Saber role models in action, both on and off the field. 🐾
