Ekstrand Elementary Principal Mr. Miller recently joined Mrs. Barnes’ class at Central DeWitt High School to share the process behind establishing the outdoor play structures at Ekstrand. 🛝
These students are currently studying the planning processes and requirements for early childhood settings, including indoor and outdoor spaces. Hearing about the planning, safety considerations and decision-making involved in a project right here at Central DeWitt gave students a chance to see how the concepts they’re learning in class come to life in a real early childhood setting. 💜💛

Our fifth graders recently took part in the CDIS Band Super Lesson, getting their first hands-on introduction to the instruments they’ll be learning this year.
And with 74 students signed up for 5th grade band, there’s a lot to celebrate! That kind of participation doesn’t happen by accident. Mr. Knowles does an incredible job getting students excited about music and making sure every student who wants to be part of the band has access to an instrument. Thank you, Mr. Knowles and to everyone who helped our students at the Super Lesson!
These young musicians will make their debut at the Parade of Bands on Oct. 19at 7 p.m. in the CDHS Competition Gym — and we can’t wait to hear them! 💜💛🐾

Choi’s book explores embracing your identity, celebrating diversity, and finding a sense of belonging — a perfect message to kick off the school and as 5th graders begin their first ELA unit on personal narratives.
The visit was interactive, engaging and a whole lot of fun! Students created mini stories using zines, small, self-made booklets that let writers combine words and illustrations to tell a story. Each student created a character who faced a real-life problem, then worked through the story to find a solution. ✏️📖
What a fun way to bring storytelling to life — and what an amazing opportunity to connect with an author halfway around the world! 🌎
A huge thank you to Central DeWitt PTO whose generosity made this experience possible for our Sabers! 🐾💜💛

They greeted students as they stepped off the bus and welcomed others at the door — handing out high-fives, smiles and plenty of Saber Spirit along the way.
Moments like these are what Saber Spirit is all about — our youngest students getting to see these Saber role models in action, both on and off the field. 🐾
Good luck tonight, Sabers! LET’S GO, SABERS! 💜💛

Happy first day, Sabers! We’re so glad you’re here! 💜💛
The first day of school is TOMORROW, and we can’t wait! As we kick off a new school year, one of the best ways families can support student success is by making regular school attendance a priority.
Every day in the classroom is an opportunity to learn, connect with teachers and classmates, and be part of the school experience. We understand that illnesses and other circumstances happen, but consistent attendance can make a big difference in a student’s success throughout the year.
If your child needs to miss school, please contact your child’s school office before 8 a.m. to report the absence.
We’re excited for a great year ahead and can’t wait to see our Sabers back in the classroom! Let’s make it a great one! 🐾💜💛
