Communication

Communication Channels

We feel it’s important to build strong relationships between our schools and families and one way we do that is through effective communication. We have several official district resources where you can find the most accurate, up-to-date information about school happenings.

Communication Preferences

PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
If you are having trouble receiving communication or would like to change your communication preferences, please login to the parent portal on Infinite Campus and verify your communication preferences are set up correctly. This is a quick process, using the steps outlined below:

1. Login to your Parent Portal.
2. Click on the person icon in the upper right corner
3. Click Settings
4. Click Contact Preferences
5. Verify that the information under both the email and phone tabs are correct. Under the phone tab you can choose to receive text and voice messages.

Also, please check your personal email and phone settings. If you have unsubscribed or marked our emails as spam you will not be able to receive communication from us. If you blocked the school phone number on your phone, you will not be able to receive text or voice alerts from us. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact your child’s school.

School Cancellations, Late Starts and Early Dismissals

Inclement weather is the most typical school emergency that results in school cancellation, late start or early dismissal. In any of these cases, a phone, email and text notification will be sent to parents, staff and community members who signed up to receive alerts. The information will also be shared on our social media, website and local television stations.

To provide you with the most accurate, up-to-date information regarding school closings, late starts or early dismissals, we always recommend checking with official district resources first. If you would like to sign up to receive alerts, please see the communication section above.

Asbestos Notification

The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act, often referred to as the AHERA rule, was enacted by Congress in 1986. This rule requires that all schools, both public and private, inspect their school buildings for asbestos-containing building materials, develop a plan to manage the asbestos for each school building, notify parents and staff regarding management plan availability and provide asbestos training to appropriate staff.to determine the extent of and develop solutions for any problems schools may have with asbestos.

Our facilities are inspected by a certified asbestos inspector every 6 months, as required by AHERA. The inspector located, sampled, and rated the condition and hazard potential of all material in our facilities suspected of containing asbestos. The inspection and laboratory analysis records were compiled by Denise Zimmer, certified Inspector/Management Planner for Asbestos Control with AEA 9.

An asbestos management plan has been established for our facilities which includes: this notification, education and training of employees, a set of plans and procedures designed to minimize the disturbance of the asbestos containing materials, plans for regular surveillance of the asbestos-containing materials, and a re-inspection update program every three years. A copy of the asbestos management plan is available for your inspection in each building administrative office during regular office hours. Superintendent, Dr. Dan Peterson, is our Asbestos Program Manager and all inquiries regarding the plan should be directed to him at dan.peterson@cd-csd.org.
