💜💛 We couldn’t be prouder of our Central DeWitt Sabers Boys Basketball team and coaches who gave it their all at State. The final score doesn’t define the heart, effort, and dedication this team has shown all season. Hold your heads high, Sabers! You’ve been a great example for our younger Sabers and have set the bar high for the future of Saber basketball. Our 5th-grade students have been fully immersed in hands-on learning during their Amplify Renaissance unit! They recently completed their Creation of Adam watercolor paintings—just like Michelangelo—lying on their backs as they painted. These masterpieces were proudly displayed at conferences for everyone to admire. Students had time at the end of the unit to test out their sculpting abilities as well. Thanks to donations of Ivory soap from our amazing parents, they channeled their inner Michelangelo again, and created their own sculptures. With only scissors, bobby pins, paper clips, paintbrushes, and pencils as tools, they tackled the challenge with creativity and determination. The classes even had a few expert sculptors from Cub Scouts sharing their tips! What a fun and engaging way to bring the Renaissance to life! #gosabers #centraldewittcsd #cdis #5thgrade #Renaissance #creativelearning #handsonlearning #learningisfun #saberpride #saberssucceeding

🎄These talented CDIS students put on a fantastic performance of Christmas in July for our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders last week! In this imaginative play, the Keepers of Time recruit a New Year Advisor to guide the upcoming year—but things don’t go quite as planned and a few missteps lead to unexpected chaos. As the characters navigate the challenges, they discover a powerful lesson: perseverance inspires others, and together, you can create something truly amazing. A huge shoutout to our talented cast, crew and Mrs. Hahn for doing an incredible job bringing this story to life! #gosabers #centraldewittcsd #cdis #cdisplay #ChristmasInJuly #saberdrama #saberpride #saberssucceeding

💜💛 Congratulations to our February 2025 District Student of the Month Alyssa Lippens! She is featured in today's edition of The Observer thanks to our friends at First Central State Bank. This month, we recognize Alyssa Lippens as the Student of the Month for her exceptional leadership, kindness, and initiative. During a recent CDHS Student Council activity at Ekstrand Elementary, Alyssa demonstrated all of these qualities, truly embodying what it means to be a SABER. When the student council arrived at Ms. Gerard’s second-grade classroom, the students were finishing an "Agriculture in the Classroom" lesson, which involved making ice cream. While the activity was fun, it left behind quite a mess—water puddles and ice scattered across the room. Without hesitation, Alyssa grabbed paper towels and began cleaning up multiple spills. She even helped students get situated to ensure the space was safe for everyone. She didn’t wait to be asked; she simply saw a need and took action. “The whole group was very flexible in waiting for us to start their activity, but Alyssa showed true leadership when she stepped in to help my students clean up,” Ms. Gerard said. “It was so helpful and really showed my students an excellent example of kindness and helping out even when the mess isn’t yours.” Alyssa is known for stepping up to help whenever needed. This past summer, she went above and beyond by volunteering to play the school mascot, Slash, for the Fourth of July parade and “School Spirit Day” at the DeWitt Farmers Market. Despite the sweltering heat inside the costume, she fully embraced the role, engaging with the crowd and spreading school spirit. Her commitment to her school and community doesn’t stop there. Alyssa is actively involved in CDHS Student Council, National Honor Society, tennis and basketball, all while making time for community service. Even with her many commitments, she continues to excel academically as well. The qualities of kindness, responsibility, and leadership that Alyssa continually demonstrates have made a real impact on our school community and inspired those around her. Congratulations, Alyssa, on being our Student of the Month! #gosabers #cdcsdstudentofthemonth #centraldewittcsd #cdhs #firstcentralstatebank #studentofthemonth #sabepride #saberssucceeding
