Last Wednesday, Mrs. Hansen took a group of Cal-Wheat and DeWitt students to Wendling Quarries for an industry tour. Students were able to explore several components of Wendling Quarries. They started the morning learning about the company and their core values. Then students visited a quarry outside of Camanche where they toured the facility and finished the day with pizza. Students were very impressed with the tour and what Wendling Quarries has to offer!

Two weeks from today on Nov. 2nd, Central DeWitt, Calamus Wheatland and Northeast High School culinary students are coming together to host a delicious made-from-scratch feast for you! The event will be held in the Northeast High School Cafeteria. Dine in is available from 4:30 -6:30 p.m. Carry outs are available from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for kids (12 and under) and must be purchased in advance at Calamus Wheatland, Central DeWitt or Northeast High School offices.

On Tuesday, Oct. 24th, 7-12th grade students will be participating in STEM Fest & Manufacturing Day put on by the DeWitt Chamber & Development Company. This event will allow students to connect with over 25 area businesses by participating in fun, engaging, hands-on activities that help explore local careers.
Students will also have the opportunity to listen in on two breakout sessions with successful local graduates talking about employability skills and their pathway to success. On Friday, Mrs. Waleszonia’s students at Ekstrand Elementary had a carrot party to celebrate the end of reading the book, “Too Many Carrots.” Students tried carrots prepared in a variety of ways including cooked, raw, purple carrots, carrot juice, carrot soufflé and carrot cake. Some were more popular than others, but we’re proud of the students for trying them!
