Good luck to Elyce Burzlaff and Sabine Housenga who are performing at the IHSSA Individual Events All State Festival at UNI today! This prestigious event showcases the best of the best individual speech performers in Iowa. In fact, out of 9,000 speech participants in Iowa, only 400 events are chosen for All State. Sabine will perform the song, "I'll Be Here" from the musical Ordinary Days, for her Solo Musical Theatre. Elyce will perform her original After Dinner Speaking piece, "The Karen Conference." Last Friday, a send-off was held for them in the CDHS atrium where their coach, Mrs. Magill, shared this is both Elyce and Sabine’s first year participating in Individual Speech. What an accomplishment for your first year! #gosabers #centraldewittcsd #cdhs #saberspeech #individualspeech #allstatespeechfestival2023 #saberssucceeding #saberpride #waytogosabers

Yesterday, 14 Central DeWitt students took advantage of the trades career fair offered at the Iowa National Guard Armory in Clinton. Students experienced six different hands-on booths that gave them the chance to practice and learn about careers within those trades. Great job to these students for exploring trade careers and thank you to everyone who made this opportunity possible! #gosabers #centraldewittcsd #cdhs #careerfair #saberssucceeding

Sophomores Jake VanderHeiden, Delaney Barber, Katlin Truelsen, and Hannah Grantz spent time with area representatives at the Iowa Capitol on Tuesday for Farm Bureau Day at the Capitol. They are pictured with DeWitt resident and House Representative Norlin Mommsen. Tuesday was also National Ag Day, which was fitting as students spoke with Mommsen and others about important topics in agriculture including changes in education centered around veterinary medicine programs in rural areas. The students also had a chance to speak with House Representative Tom Determann and Senator Chris Cournoyer. #gosabers #centraldewittcsd #ffa #farmbureauday #nationalagday #iowacapitol

Did you know that alligator snapping turtles bite with the force of 1,000 lbs? That was just one of many facts Mr. Waterbury’s Field Science classes learned about amphibians and reptiles when Kari Jeffrey from Clinton County Conservation visited recently. Ms. Jeffrey brought a variety of snakes and turtles for the students to see. Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge with our students! #gosabers #centraldewittcsd #cdhs #fieldscience #clintoncountyconservation
