Third grade students have been studying the human body and yesterday they learned even more about the body’s different systems from two local experts. Dr. Stephanie Makela, a pediatric chiropractor, presented on the skeletal system and how it is interconnected with other systems while Amy Fox, an OR nurse, shared her expertise about various working parts within each system (our brain, heart, veins, etc.). The students have been working hard on learning all of the human body systems and they surprised both presenters with the knowledge they already had! Last Wednesday, Mrs. Hansen took a group of Cal-Wheat and DeWitt students to Wendling Quarries for an industry tour. Students were able to explore several components of Wendling Quarries. They started the morning learning about the company and their core values. Then students visited a quarry outside of Camanche where they toured the facility and finished the day with pizza.
