This week 9th-11th graders had a chance to learn more about the opportunities available to them at the DeWitt Career Advancement Center. During their tour, students explored the six academies that will be available for juniors and seniors in the DeWitt location next year. Students were surveyed earlier in the month to see which academies, available in DeWitt, Clinton and Maquoketa, interested them. The academies will run year-round, and students can earn certification within the career fields offered (IT, CNC, Small Business Management, Construction Technology, Healthcare, and Agriculture). If you have any questions regarding the academies, please reach out to Holly Hansen at holly.hansen@cd-csd.org. #gosabers #centraldewittcsd #cdhs #careerandcollegeready #planningforthefuture #dewittcareeradvancementcenter #eicc #saberssucceeding

Yesterday Ekstrand Elementary held their first-ever royal tea party! The party, where students and teachers dressed up in their royal attire, was held for all kindergartners as an incentive for the end of their royalty unit. Students learned how someone becomes a king or queen, the advantages and disadvantages of being royalty, and the manners you have to have when you are royalty. At the party, kings and queens got a choice of a treats served on fancy plates and a drink served in a tea cup. They ate their snacks using the manners they learned during the unit. After the tea party the royal festivities shifted to a royal ball, full of dancing. Students listened to Disney music while they did a waltz they learned earlier in the unit. The teachers were thrilled about the party and plan to host more festivities like it in the future.
