During the fall semester, four seniors, Madison Poll, Lauren Walker, Nathan Jacobsen, and
Bry Tobey had the opportunity to intern with local businesses through Cooperative Education. This work-based learning course, taught by Mr. Law, is part of the CDHS Career and Technical Education Program.
The internship program is an opportunity for students to gain experience in their field of interest, develop employment skills, explore pertinent college majors if going to college, and potentially determine a career path to pursue. Depending on where their internship is
at, students can even get paid.
Last week, students concluded their internships by sharing their experiences and what they learned through class presentations. Additionally, some presented at the CDCSD School Board meeting on Monday.

Last Thursday, a group of our amazing 6th graders attended the Southeast Iowa Choral Directors Association (SE-ICDA) Honor Choir at Assumption High School! These dedicated students auditioned and earned the opportunity to participate. Over the past month and a half, they prepared four challenging songs outside of school hours. On January 16th, they joined about 150 other 5th and 6th graders from the area for a full day of rehearsals, culminating in a fantastic evening concert. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and incredible performance!

With extreme cold temperatures in the forecast, we want to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff. As a result, school will operate on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, Jan. 21st. Buses will run two hours later than usual, and classes will begin at 10 a.m.
Additionally, there will be no morning preschool, and all morning activities are canceled.
We understand the challenges these changes may bring and appreciate your flexibility and understanding. Please ensure your children are dressed warmly, and let us know if you have any concerns. Stay safe, and thank you for your support.

Last week, kindergartners walked the red carpet to attend a royal tea party. This special event, where students and teachers dressed in regal attire, served as a culminating celebration for the end of their royalty unit. During the unit, students explored how individuals become kings or queens, listened to fairy tales, and learned the importance of practicing royal manners.
At the tea party, the young kings and queens chose from a selection of treats served on elegant plates and enjoyed drinks in tea cups, all while demonstrating the manners they had practiced.
Following the tea party, the celebration continued with a royal ball filled with dancing. Students waltzed to Disney music, showcasing the dance skills they had learned during their studies. Adding to the excitement of the tea party was the presence of some very special guests—the Sabers girls basketball players! What a fun way to celebrate our kindergartners’ hard work!
