Central DeWitt hosted Special Olympics Young Athletes Play Day on Thursday, May 4. Unified members from 5th and 6th grade partnered with students from Ekstrand Elementary to assist them with different activities developed to help the students learn skills needed for when they are old enough to participate in Special Olympics sports. Both the Unified members and the young athletes enjoyed being together for the event and having lunch from Subway.

Early Childhood Education 158 Curriculum I students recently visited to the Bettendorf Family Museum and the Bettendorf Public Library. During these visits they learned about creative learning opportunities for young kids outside of the traditional classroom.

Congratulations to our 8th grade boys track team on their 1st place finish at the MS MAC meet in Bettendorf, to our HS boys sprint medley team (David Harper, Alex Brown, Alex Fuller, & Will Ginter), Tristan Rheingans in the 400 Hurdles, and Colby Cornelius in the high jump on their conference 1st place finishes, to Soren Maricle on 1st place conference finishes in the 100 hurdles and high jump and to Isabelle Pierce and Saydie Roling on their tennis singles conference championships!
Good luck to our HS girls golf team at the MAC meet today at Kewanee Dunes, to our boys and girls tennis players at the district and regional meets this week, and to our HS boys and girls track teams at the district qualifying meet at Davenport Assumption! The CDIS music room was filled with all kinds of silly sounds this week as fourth grade students tried out a variety of musical instruments. Next year these students will have an opportunity to join 5th grade band and this gives them a chance to discover which instruments they enjoy playing.
