The Central DeWitt Community School District Board of Directors unanimously adopted a resolution on October 19, 2026, formally expressing its support for the bond referendum appearing on the November 3, 2026, ballot.

The referendum asks voters to authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $33.7 million to implement the District’s facilities plan. The plan is designed to address aging infrastructure, improve safety and security, and create learning spaces that support educational opportunities across grade levels.

The resolution notes that the facilities plan was developed through a planning process that considered building conditions, educational needs, and the District’s financial resources, along with input from staff, families, and community members.

“This plan is the result of a lot of listening, to our staff, our families, and our community,” said Jodi Prosise, Board President. “As a board, we have a responsibility to plan not just for today’s students but for the ones who will walk through our doors years from now. We believe this is a thoughtful, responsible approach to meeting those needs, and that’s why we stand united in support of it.”

Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Mishler emphasized the plan’s focus on students and safety. “Every decision in this plan comes back to one question: what do our students need to learn and thrive?” said Mishler. “Addressing aging buildings and strengthening safety and security are essential, but so is creating spaces that open up new opportunities for kids at every grade level. We encourage everyone in our community to learn about the plan, ask questions, and make their voice heard on November 3.”

In the resolution, the Board affirmed its commitment to responsible financial oversight, transparent reporting, and accountability in carrying out the proposed projects if the referendum is approved. The Board also recognized that the final decision rests with District voters and encouraged all eligible residents to review the proposal and participate in the election.

The resolution has been entered into the official minutes of the Board as a statement of its position on the referendum.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Absentee voting is available now through November 2, 2026. More information about the facilities plan and the referendum is available on the District’s bond referendum page at www.cd-csd.org/page/bond-referendum
