The Central DeWitt Community School District Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution Monday supporting the issuance of approximately $20.3 million in School Infrastructure Local Option Sales, Services and Use Tax (SAVE) Revenue Bonds following a required public hearing.
The action represents another step in the district's long-range facilities planning process. The proposed SAVE Revenue Bonds would provide approximately 38% of the funding for the district's proposed $54 million facilities plan through existing district SAVE and PPEL revenues. The remaining 62% of the proposed project would be funded through a voter-approved General Obligation bond referendum.
The proposed projects represent a long-term investment in Central DeWitt schools, addressing facility needs while utilizing dedicated statewide sales tax revenue specifically designated for school infrastructure improvements.
"Our responsibility is to ensure every member of our community has clear, accurate information about the proposed projects, why they are being recommended, and how they would be funded," said Dr. Stephanie Mishler, Superintendent of Central DeWitt Community School District. "Our commitment is to help every voter cast an informed vote. That means listening to questions, providing honest and timely information, and making sure our community has what it needs to make the decision that is right for them and for the future of our schools."
