Eddie Mercado is an Extended Learning Program Teacher at Central DeWitt Community Schools. He implemented new and creative programs such as Odyssey of the Mind, FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics, a Robotics course, and Virtual Reality Education Pathfinders. He has developed and implemented a variety of school programs which encourage students to think outside-of-the-box and test their creativity. Outside the classroom, Eddie coaches a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team and organizes FTC League Competitions. Eddie has also coached more than two dozen teams in the Odyssey of the Mind program, a problem-solving competition. Eddie has coached DeWitt Central’s Junior Achievement Titan teams to nine consecutive regional championships.
QCESC, held its 57th annual banquet on Thursday, February 21st at the John Deere World Headquarters. Everyone, including students, was cordially invited to attend this annual premier event to celebrate, network and showcase the great Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Professionals and Educators in the Quad Cities region. The event was held during National Engineers Week (E-week) where Mr. Mercado was recognized for this honor.
